Reasons to be Cheerful

Reasons to be Cheerful is a nonprofit online magazine that is tonic for tumultuous times. We tell stories that reveal that there are a surprising number of reasons to feel cheerful. Many of these reasons come in the form of smart, proven, replicable solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Through sharp reporting, our stories balance a sense of healthy optimism with journalistic rigor.

HOW TO PITCH:
Reasons to be Cheerful looks for stories about unique, surprising and innovative solutions that have shown measurable success. If the solution is replicable and/or scalable, even better. While we love stories that have never been told before, we do accept pitches about things that have been reported on previously, as long as the pitch somehow advances or adds value to the story. Stories should be rigorously reported, researched and fact-checked. Please visit our website to familiarize yourself with our content.

Our rates start at 50 cents per word with incremental increases depending on the author's expertise, special access to a topic, location-based reporting, etc.
