We're excited to announce the 2025-26 Student Media Challenge, an initiative that will bring together eight journalism schools and student publications into a year-long cohort to produce solutions journalism on student mental health. Participating journalism schools and student publications will receive a $7,500 grant to pursue their reporting, along with training and support.

Launched in 2022, the Student Media Challenge builds on SJN's ongoing work with colleges and universities, as solutions journalism courses continue to expand at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The program has become an incubator for solutions journalism, resulting in stories for digital and print news services, radio, television and podcasts.

We are offering two online informational sessions in February about this program. The first will be Monday, March 3rd at noon Eastern. The second will be Friday, March 7th at 4 p.m. Eastern. If questions arise, please reach out to Michael Davis (michaeldavis@solutionsjournalism.org), SJN’s manager of training and curriculum.
