Behind the Scenes of the Solutions Journalism Accelerator

Since 2022, the Solutions Journalism Network has worked with the European Journalism Centre (EJC) on the Solutions Journalism Accelerator. This has included giving 31 grants across three cohorts to support solutions reporting in Europe. As this program nears its end, the nine ambassadors — tasked with “facilitating partnerships and collaborations and establishing a peer support network for those involved or interested in solutions journalism in their respective countries” — got together to share what they’ve learned through the process. EJC wrote about the meeting, which touched on topics including the skepticism around solutions journalism, how to build reporting around community needs and how to make solutions journalism part of a larger, more constructive news diet.
