Solutions Journalism Case Studies from Europe

Libération's project, Pistes Vertes, produced 13 articles focusing on local solutions to environmental challenges

We’re honored to partner with the European Journalism Centre on the Solutions Journalism Accelerator. Because the goal is to learn as much as possible about infusing solutions reporting into a newsroom’s workflow, EJC has been diligent about documenting the processes and results from each newsroom involved. Now, there are two fresh case studies from the cohort. First, New Internationalist, a U.K.-based cooperative, completed a 17-story project exploring decolonization through a solutions lens. The outlet’s conversation with EJC illustrates how it did that and showcases solutions journalism's versatility in covering an incredible array of issues.

Second, French publication Libération’s environmentally-focused project got the visual treatment on LinkedIn after it reported 13 stories with an emphasis on climate solutions. Libération reported on projects in India, Senegal, Tunisia, Peru and more as it sought climate strategies others might learn from.
