Shuchita Jha is an independent journalist and founder of podcast platform Ground Tales. With over a decade of experience spanning across issues like climate change, environment, biodiversity, energy transition, and gender issues her work has been featured in esteemed publications like The Times of India, Mongabay India, Down To Earth, and Fast Company Middle East. Her podcast platform is dedicated to indigenous rights, climate change, and environmental issues. A significant milestone in her career was being selected for the IIT Kanpur- Just Transition Research Fellowship in 2022–23. During this period, she researched the local repercussions of unplanned coal mine closures. In 2021, she underwent training with DW Akademie in environmental journalism and mobile reporting, which honed her skills in addressing intricate environmental matters. Given her specialization, she was chosen as one of the 17 climate change professionals for the distinguished “Open Climate Reporting Initiative” Train-the-Trainer bootcamp by DataLEADS and the Center of Investigative Journalism, London. She is currently pursuing a one-year fellowship on India’s Constitutional Values with the Vikas Samvad Samiti where she is researching and reporting on the dignity of people hailing from the indigenous communities in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. Her dedication to journalism earned her the Vikas Samvad Media Award in 2021 for her exceptional coverage of child rights.
