A Boost for News Literacy
The News Literacy Project is looking for solutions journalists to go into classrooms — from elementary school to college — to talk about journalism, including solutions journalism. Why should solutions journalism be a part of news literacy? Because the most widespread form of misinformation in journalism comes from journalists’ bias toward the negative. Solutions reporting helps correct this misleading picture of the world.
You’ll join a directory of journalist volunteers. Teachers can browse the directory to request virtual and in-person classroom visits. You decide how often you want to participate, and you can pause your involvement at any time. The vast majority of students have never met a journalist. This is a chance to reach young people with your story and with another version of news. To get started, fill out this short application.
