The Solutions Journalism Network is seeking pitches from journalism trainers, editors, reporters, and journalism school educators interested in (or already) leading solutions journalism trainings for journalists.

This is an opportunity to develop solutions journalism training skills and to support solutions journalism projects with SJN's accreditation and support.

During five online sessions* held over the course of two weeks, the group works together to come up with ideas and strategies for teaching solutions journalism: rigorous reporting on how people are responding to problems.

- The program kicks off with the official solutions journalism training, which leads to an exploration of how to teach what solutions journalism is, why it matters and how to practice it (and teach it) in particular contexts.
- The program also digs into the four criteria of solutions journalism, case studies of worldwide practices and exercises that will help participants teach journalists and newsrooms how to engage meaningfully and embrace the practice.
- Finally, the group works together to set training goals and outlines to help each participant become a successful solutions journalism trainer for their newsroom, students or communities of journalists.

Each session will be co-led by Kyuwon Lee, SJN's Training & Curriculum Manager, Caroline Karobia, SJN's Africa Initiative Manager, and Sanne Breimer, SJN's accredited trainer in the Netherlands. We'll also be joined by multiple SJN staff members and accomplished trainers from our network, who will provide insight into their work in solutions journalism.

Before you apply, please make sure you're able to join all five sessions as your presence is not only a mandatory requirement but also a core component to make this participant-driven training complete. Please kindly note that we don't accept or consider partial attendance.

----

The deadline to apply is Sunday, November 10, 11:59 PM ET. No late applications will be accepted. SJN will notify the selection of candidates by Wednesday, November 20.

*Each session will last for 3 hours on December 4, 6, 9, 11, and 13, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM ET. In addition, we'll ask the participants to attend an hour-long SJN webinar to get familiar/refresh their knowledge of solutions journalism (date to be confirmed).

** We understand that this timing might not work for everyone. We have our next ToTs coming in 2025 at different times. Please stay tuned.

Please contact Kyuwon Lee (kyuwon@solutionsjournalism.org) for questions.
