Matt Simmons

Matt Simmons is a journalist based in the Indigenous territories of the Wet’suwet’en peoples in northwest British Columbia, Canada. He is a staff reporter with The Narwhal, a nonprofit online magazine that covers stories about the natural world, with a focus on the intersections between the environment, resource extraction and Indigenous rights. Matt’s reporting often takes him to remote locations where communities are on the front lines of environmental racism, climate impacts and biodiversity loss. He is committed to the practices of decolonizing journalism and complicating the narrative.
